01 · Background
A software engineer who started running
I’m from Bengaluru and I build software for a living. In 2023 I signed up for the TCS World 10K on a whim, and running quietly took over. Since then I’ve finished 11 races at marathon distance or longer, including the Khardung La Challenge in Ladakh and UTMB Chiangmai 56K in Thailand.
Training for those races is what got me paying close attention to my own wearable data, and to how much work it takes to turn those numbers into something useful.
02 · Why Health Genie exists
One clear read instead of another dashboard
An Apple Watch collects a lot of useful information, but the Health app mostly hands it back as charts. Plenty of people don’t want a recovery index or a strain score; they want to know, in a few seconds each morning, whether things are on track.
Health Genie is my answer to that. It turns steps and resting heart rate, plus sleep when it’s available, into one daily Vitality Score, adds a short plain-language brief and suggests one small thing to focus on. The score is calculated on your device, and the formula is published so you can check how it works.
03 · What I’ve built
Two small apps, one approach
Health Genie (iPhone, Apple Watch data): the daily Vitality Score, morning brief, trends and health journal. View it on the App Store.
The Running Genie: an AI running coach that reads your Strava activity and adapts your training plan to what you actually ran. It was featured in the May 2026 print edition of Runner’s World Italia. I built the first version for my own training. There’s more about the running side on my Running Genie founder page.
04 · How the guides are written
What you can expect from this site
I’m responsible for every guide published here. Health explanations are based on primary or authoritative sources wherever practical: Apple’s own documentation, public-health agencies, professional medical organisations and peer-reviewed research. Statements about Health Genie are checked against the current app. Automated tools may help with drafting and checking, but I’m responsible for what gets published.
Comparison and “alternatives” articles cover apps that compete with mine. I try to say plainly where a competitor is the better fit, but you should know I’m not a neutral reviewer. The full standards, including how corrections work, are in the editorial and corrections policy.
